Dayton, Ohio History Books Online

A new website called, "Dayton History Books Online" provides old, out-of-copyright books pertaining to Dayton, Ohio's early history. The text each book is fully transcribed and can be read online, or searched by keyword.

Genealogists and historians will find a long list of valuable historical reference books such as, "Pioneer Life in Dayton and Vicinity: 1796-1840" by John F. Edgar (1896), and "The Old Red Brick Schoolhouse", by Charlotte Reeve Conover.

The website is the project of a local Dayton author, Curt Dalton, who saw a need for such information to be available to children and the general public in a format that can easily be read and searched. The website was launched on October 24, 2004. Most of the books on the site are out of copyright and in the public domain, while others are books that Curt himself has written.

This site is free and the books can be printed out as a whole or in pages as needed by the reader. At this time, however, only the text of the books are available, no images.
