Don't Be Tricked

When using search engines such as Google and Yahoo, don't be tricked into going to the wrong place by advertisements placed by not-so-ethical webmasters. For example, searching for "Cyndislist" on Google will bring up a page which while it includes a link to Cyndislist.com, also includes paid links in the spot most viewers look at first which lead to sites that do nothing besides sell Ancestry.com subscriptions. Many of these sites are owned by one individual and include domain names such as:

www.freesurnamesearch.com (home of the SurnameSearchDaily@yahoogroups.com mailing list.)
www.records.com
www.Public-records-now.com

These sites do not so much as offer links to Cyndislist and other important genealogy sites. They are simply out to procure a piece of your hard earned money.
