Aliens Births in the USA at All Time High
The Center for Immigration Studies announced today the highlights of a study perfomed on birth records. The study shows that that the number of children born to immigrants nationwide (legal & illegal) in 2002 was higher than at any time in American history.
In New York, the increase in recent decades has been enormous. The study contains information at the national, state, and, in some cases, county levels (including New York City, Nassau, Westchester, and Suffolk Counties). Two of the most important findings for New York are that there are a very large number of births to illegal aliens in the state and that large differences exist between the education levels of immigrant and native mothers.
For future genealogists, researching family history will be particularly difficult because of the proliferation of illegal immigrants, and the lack of available documentation.
The study will be available to the general public on July 7, 2005. Advance copies are available to the media.
