New Book: Carolina Country Reflections

Carolina Country ReflectionsA new book entitled, "Carolina Country Reflections: Looking at the way we were", take its readers back in time across rural North Carolina. It's a compilation of more than 220 treasured photographs from before 1970, along with personal captions by their contributors, presenting a way of life almost forgotten today.

The book contains original and arresting photographs showing rare glimpses of vintage clothes and hairstyles, old cars, work scenes, family reunions, farm harvests and community landmarks. The pictures, nearly all of which have never been published before now, were donated by readers of Carolina Country Magazine, the monthly magazine of North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives.

The book is divided into five chapters, "At Home," "Working," "Having Fun," "Gatherings" and "Familiar & Forgotten." The contributors' down-to-earth recollections about family, neighbors, friends and places reveal how rural North Carolinians lived and loved in a simpler society before 1970.

The book's price is $46.00, which includes shipping. The price goes up after January 1.
