Obituary Database Reaches a Milestone

The Pine Bluff / Jefferson County (Arkansas) Library System's Obituary Database has reached a milestone with over 200,000 entries in the database. The index covers the Pine Bluff Commercial for the years of 1950 to present day, which includes deaths and obituaries for much of Southeast Arkansas. (Although deaths and obituaries are still being collected for a few months in the late 1980's which still need to be added. There are a few years prior to 1950 in the index, and work will proceed on the pre-1950 deaths after the 1980's are complete.)

If one finds information in the index, they may request a photocopy of the information, but there is a nominal charge of $7.50. Click on the "request photocopy" link for more information.
